Sweet Sweet Jars and other things

I love apothecary jars and I have collected a few which I filled with lollies (candy), placed on my kitchen bench. There are these British lollies shops here which I love, the greatest pleasure for me is simply looking at all the different sorts of lollies in jars of all shapes and sizes and marvelling and drooling over them. We are not big lolly eaters, so even though it might seem like too much temptation to have lollies in jars in such an easily accessible place, we're really quite safe. Besides, I think it doesn't hurt to have a lolly or two every now and then anyway, so long as you brush your teeth after eating them. In the larger jar on the right, the white lollies are Milkbottles(soft), in the littler straight jar are Kool Mints and Mentos' Fruit and Berries(chews). The green and white are Choc Mint Crunch(hard) and the choc biscuits are Arnott's Royals cut in halves.I can't believe strawberries are back already, they haven't been absent for too long; they are so very juicy and sweet. I can't have enough of them. As for the roses, well, I didn't get to prune all of them last week and they just kept on flowering, the pruning always takes longer than I expect. I had to saw many of my bushes as the stems are simply too thick and chunky for the secateurs. I really really need to prune them all though. Yesterday was my last day at work, so now hopefully I'll have a bit more time to get that done.Have you ever tried Bosnian bread? I got some to try today, it was still warm and straight out of the oven at the Afghani bakery I bought it from. It tasted a bit like Turkish bread, just thicker and round in shape. I ate it with Hommus dip and it was certainly very delicious. I have yet to ask my Bosnian friend if what we've got here is authentic compared to the original.I also can't believe the weekend is upon us already, where has all the time gone? Time seems to be flying faster and faster these days. I wish you all a happy and meaningful weekend, thanks for your visit, it's been great to have you here.

Hi Rosy,

The apothecary jars look so nice iny your kitchen - it really brightens up the room!

Love your roses too. Just wondering, if they are still flowering, why would you need to prune them?

Oh how fabulous the jars look on your bench. There is no way they would stay filled in my home. Everyone would be sneaking some out all the time.
You are so lucky to still have some roses in your garden.

So nice to see all the roses - I do not care much for sweets, but strawberries are delicious! The bread looks the same like Turkish bread, with nigella seeds.

Hi Rosy,

I was re-looking your pictures - always good for the eyes. Your blog is such a sanctuary for daintiness! While I can't replicate that look myself, but I always love the look! ;)

Thanks for sharing about the finer points on rose pruning. What you said made perfect sense to me!!!

Have a great week ahead.

Blessings.

Beautiful jars. I love the way you have used them. I'm afraid that I would happily work my way through the lollies in no time flat.
Such fine roses! Isn't it fun to try new breads and things. We are so lucky here in Australia with all of our multiculturalism to have access to all manner of delicacies. It really has changed since I was a kid and the food was mostly based on English fair with a little Dutch thrown in.
Happy week to you Rosy, Angela.

Those lollies look wonderful but they wouldn't last a day here, unfortunately. I have to hide *everything*, LOL.
