I'm in awe.............

Spring has crept up on me this year, Just when I wasn't paying much attention. It still feels like yesterday I'd just pruned the roses, and they have come back in force already. Lavender blue, lavender blue, where can I find a friend oh-so-true?Pink Lavenders too! and "Pure Harmony" white French lavenders my brother gave me..........Today I was as though on a roll to pay specific attention to intricate details that Creation had to offer, I wasn't disappointed. I realised the camera could pick up much more details than I could see in real life with my own two eyes. The intricacy of the process of flowering is amazing...........Even part of my lunch speaks volumes about the intricacy of God's creation! I'm in awe.........This flower speaks Spring to me like no others, I have tried to remember its name; but I still don't have it. (Perhaps you do?) That's what happens when you grow it from cuttings from a friend. I'm still in awe of the intricacy of this flower! Oh! Look at it.............. How can I not be?It was good to take time and slow down to notice and pay attention.

The "Impossible" can happen!

Yes, the "impossible" can happen. It's happened in this dessert called "Impossible Pie". It's called "impossible" because it starts off as a runny mixture which is poured into the cake pan, and when baked,emerges from the oven as a three-layered "pie" which seems......... "impossible". How does it do it? Well, you'll have to bake it to know it!
Here's how:
1/2 cup (75g) plain flour
3/4 cup caster sugar
3/4 cup (60g) desiccated coconut
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla 125g butter, melted
1/2 cup (40g) flaked almonds
2 cups (500ml) milk

(1) Preheat oven to 180C/160C fan forced. Grease deep 24cm pie dish.
(2) Combine sifted flour, sugar, coconut, eggs, vanilla, butter and half the nuts in large bowl; gradually add milk, stirring, until combined. Pour into dish; bake 35 minutes.
(3) Remove pie from oven. Sprinkle remaining nuts over pie; bake 10 minutes.
Serve pie with cream, if desired. (Recipe from The Australian Women's Weekly cookbook)
What happens is the flour and butter which are heavier, sink to the bottom to form the "pie crust" during baking, the centre layer (which stays in the middle, haha!) is like a custard filling which tastes like the custard egg-y layer you get in Bread and Butter Pudding, and the top layer, the coconut, is the lightest ingredient which floats to the top, becomes golden brown and crusty, hence the three-layered pie which arranges itself when a little heat is applied.
Nothing short of magic! Now, help yourself!

Enchanting Windows Party

Cielo from The House in the Roses is having another party. This time she invited us to participate in the enchanting and awesome Windows Party. Our house has many large windows and I had trouble deciding which window is my favourite. They are all my favourites. So I narrowed them down to three and decided to show them. I haven't really done anything special to dress them up for the party, I decided to participate by showing them as they are in real life. This first one is of the Queen Anne Bay Windows in our bedroom. They are almost ceiling-to-floor and are east facing. I love the light that streams through them into the bedroom, these windows really make the bedroom look and feel larger. Every morning I open the curtains up and let the sun shine in. I simply love it when the bedroom gets optimal light especially on those dark winter's days. The second one is of our Lounge Room windows. Our Lounge room is like an extra sitting room in the front of the house. These windows are also east facing, so they get the soft morning sun as well. I decided to use lace curtains for these windows as lace has an immediate "wow" effect on the room, I love the softness in this room.This last one is of the back windows in our Living Room. They are west facing and so they get the afternoon sun beating on them. That's why we have heavy sunblock curtains here. The view is into our back garden here, it's not the ocean or anything like that, but I'm thankful just to be able to look outside and see garden.I hope you enjoyed my windows tour, thank you for visiting me and hope you'll come back again. Happy Aussie Father's Day

Tomorrow will be Father's Day in Australia, I know our friends in the US had it in June. Both my own dad and father-in-law have gone to be with the Lord, they both lived a life honouring the things of God, putting God first and they have left a legacy of integrity and faithfulness and I'm most grateful to them for their examples they set while they were alive. We'll be celebrating Father's Day with awesome hubby being the dad to our three wonderful kids, hope all of you Aussie bloggy friends will have a lovely Father's Day. Happy weekend to you all.

Of details and texture

Details and texture on things that surround us make the world much more interesting, I'm the sort of person who loves to stare at details and think and contemplate......... ......as that part of my brain is transported to another "world". Our God of the Bible is into details, He's known for giving very specific instructions on "building projects"-- (He's also given us very specific instructions on how to build our lives!) It's amazing how much details and texture I can find when I start looking around the house. Just to give you some examples--The details on this metal stand........ On these silver spoons...... On the dress of this doll.......On these teapot set......... On this stool....... On a wall sconceDetails and texture on the lace, On these picture frames........... On the birdhouse......... Picture on this tray......... On this white ceramic sugar bowl,On these urns.......On these pictures....... On this garden statue and the dried roses......... On this framed rosy costume made of wood my sister gave me........Fleur de lis in the bathroom.......In my own kids' old baby shoes and booties collection........(treasures!!!) Oh! Small Birdbath Makeover

I like Clearance Sales where you can get stuff 30% of the original price or less. I came across this smallish metal bird bath which I was not particularly looking for. It was severely marked down. It's hard to resist something really cheap and beautiful! I bought it. It was rustic black, quite heavy. I decided to paint it antique white and distress it. Oops! Nearly forgot to take a "Before" photo! Should I leave it in the Living Room with water and flower/petals floating on the water?(not shown here) Or............ ........... or use it for what it's meant for in the garden????
